Duties and Responsibilities
Based at the Terrace campus, the Director reports to the Vice-President Institutional Advancement and is responsible for leading the effective and efficient communications, public relations and marketing of the College and its mission to external and internal audiences to increase awareness of, pride in, and support for the College among its major constituencies primarily through the media and various internal and external publications as well as the web. S/he manages crisis communications, provides media and messaging counsel, and mitigates any potentially negative information related to the College. Additionally, the Director provides guidance and advice to senior management on media and communications strategies for critical public issues and for advancing the College’s profile. The Director oversees the development of comprehensive communications, branding and marketing strategies, and the compilation of stakeholder research to advance the College’s objectives. The Director is responsible for the development of internal communications strategies to foster a strong community identity. S/he establishes benchmarks and develops forms of measurement to continually evaluate and improve upon communications strategies. S/he consults widely to develop strategies and provide guidance and advice to the campus community on broad matters related to public relations, marketing and communications.
Qualifications
A Bachelors Degree in Communications or a related field (Masters preferred) is required plus five to ten years experience in the development and delivery of marketing and communications, and media relations.
