Reporting to the Sustainable Development Director, this position’s primary responsibility will be to advance the vision and values of Cermaq Canada by ensuring that the internal and external communications are professional, timely, and accurate while supporting our vision of shared value, transparency, and respect for rights holders, stakeholders, and communities.

Application Requirements:

-A degree with specialization in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline.

-A minimum of 4-7 years relevant work experience, with at least four years of progressive public relations or

communications experience.

- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

- Valid BC driver’s license required.

- Demonstrated ability in leading strategic and proactive communications initiatives.

- Demonstrated understanding of media relations and communications strategy coupled with strong network

of media contacts.

- Proven experience in creating effective corporate communications plans.

- Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.

- Solid writing ability in creating corporate communications information, executive speeches and

presentations, news releases, and employee communications.

- Adaptability and flexibility including ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change.

- Occasional regional travel is required.

Manager of Engagement (Regular Full Time)

The City of Victoria is recruiting for a Manager, Engagement, in the Engagement Department. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Engagement, effectively manage the City’s public participation and communications activities to engage and empower the community.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: Lead and manage a team of engagement professionals in a unionized environment to develop, implement and evaluate strategic engagement and communication plans to support City projects within the community and within the organization; prepare reports and make recommendations to senior management. Assist the Director in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, and deliver on the City’s engagement commitments through leading by example, and demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, work ethic and values.

The Manager, Engagement will:

-Lead and manage a division of engagement staff setting clear objectives, priorities and timelines, and develop the potential of staff to consistently deliver successful outcomes and continuous improvement.

-Manage the delivery of public engagement and communications activities including stakeholder relations, facilitation, research, advertising, marketing and media relations.

- Develop and oversee the implementation of communications to support public engagement activities.

- Be responsible for cooperating and collaborating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in order to meet the public participation and communications needs of the City.

- The candidate will ideally have considerable experience designing and solving challenging engagement issues, employing a highly creative, innovative, and effective approach to design and manage strategic engagement initiatives.

- Work harmoniously with all internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver engagement programs and recommendations of the highest possible value. The individual will professionally represent both the department and the City during liaison with the public and all other government and commercial organizations.

- Assist in the development of public engagement policies and standards based on best practices.

- Support the Director of Engagement with communications during emergencies.

- Lead the Engagement Department in the absence of the Director. Act as City spokesperson, as required.

- Perform other related activities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Communications, Public Participation or Business or related-field (4 years). 5-7 years of progressive responsibility, including supervisory experience. Experience managing public engagement programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Preferred: IAP2 Accreditation an asset.

Public Relations Coordinator

Currently, SSI is looking for a Public Relations Coordinator to join our team in Victoria, BC.

Responsibilities include:

- Creating all client and marketing facing written media, and writing, proofreading and editing all marketing materials

- Writing technical white papers for presentation at conferences

- Creating PowerPoint presentations

- Planning and purchasing online and print advertising

- Conducting interviews with clients and SSI staff regarding content for editorials, press releases, and testimonials

- Writing and promoting the publication of editorials and press releases through various media sources

Our ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Communications or a related field plus a minimum of 3 years of public relations or marketing experience. You will also possess:

- A demonstratable aptitude for easily adopting multiple software applications

- Familiarity with HubSpot marketing software

- Previous CRM experience (such as Maximizer, Salesforce, etc.)

- Experience with AGILE as a business methodology (familiarity with SCRUM and/or KANBAN frameworks is an asset)

-Knowledge of the shipbuilding industry (asset)
